Birdie the Gnarled is an illustrator of strange recollections.
She was raised by birds many moons ago and lives in the hollow of a twisted old elm tree with her cats Walter and Wyrm.
She illustrates for books, bands, and for herself. Birdie sells her work on her website, at select stores, and at in-person markets. She also runs a secret club on Patreon where you can get monthly prints and stickers.
She currently resides in Vancouver, Canada.
She was once known as "Julia Jane Martens," but a curse will fall on ye if you address her so.
Letters From a Bird is a monthly newsletter detailing her life as an illustrator. Each letter promises a paragraph or two sharing some thoughts Birdie has been having, events coming up, favourites from the last month, and photographs.
